Bien grew up in her parents bakery and that is every child’s dream, surrounded by the most sweetest things. She loved watching her father and the other bakers do their job. She also saw how hard her parents had to work and decided at that moment she didn’t want to follow in her parents footprints.
Her love for baking never faded so after her 2 daughters were born she picked it up and started baking cakes. After following a few classes but most of all a lot of practising she started Cakes by Bien in 2007.
The first year she baked a lot off cakes, but then she was asked to teach classes. Since she was used to teach classes in her last job, the decision was made easily. So far it was the right decision since she still enjoys other people everything about cake decorating and most off all make them enthusiastic about it.
In 2008 she also started her webshop, she was looking for special cutters abroad and decided to import them so she could introduce them to the dutch public. This was a success and within no time she sold cutters from some big names in the industry. Still she missed some designs and she started drawing and designing herself and Bien Cutters were born. Cakes by Bien wants to sell high quality cutters, stainless steel, dishwater safe, easy to use and most of all for a good price.
Because of her classes and webshop there is no time to take cake orders anymore but her style for her cakes and cutters are well known. If not for the colours she uses, it is the simplicity and ‘less is more’
Cakes by Bien is more than Bien at the moment. Her best friend and co-worker Tirs from Taart van Tirs helps her out with designing cutters and projects for Cake & Craft and Mjamtaart(Dutch Magazine). They both try to attend as much sugarcraft shows as possible, national and international.
Someone once describe Cakes by Bien as Simple but Efficient. A compliment they cherish. |
